A Resource for Developmental Editors

Since 2004, the Author–Editor Clinic has been providing quality instruction and mentoring for freelance editors seeking to expand their skills. The Clinic’s focus is on developmental editing of long manuscripts of fiction and creative nonfiction. We offer online classes in developmental editing, and a mentoring program. We offer resources and publications for editors, including pdf downloads and the new handbook, An Editor’s Guide to Working with Authors. We also sponsor the blog The Editor’s POV.

A Resource for Authors

The Author–Editor Clinic is also a resource for writers. We offer economical and thorough critiques of full-length manuscripts in editorial clinics two or three times a year. We also offer an ongoing manuscript review service and a referral list of freelance editors associated with the Clinic. Our publications for writers include pdf downloads such as “What to Look for in an Editor,” and some of our resources and online classes may interest writers as well.
